Vietnamese dipping fishsauce – nuoc mam

The base for the sauce  is always fish sauce-nuoc mam and you can add ingredients such as lime juice, chopped chilies, garlic, vinegar,  ginger and pickled carrots…

Ingredients:

1tbsp fish sauce

 2tbsp sugar

-11/2 tbsp lemon juice

-6 tbp water

red chilli , chopped finely

-2 cloves garlic, chopped finely

Optional: Add some pickled carrot and daikon strips to the sauce before use

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl : add sugar in fish sauce first, then add  water, garlic and chili, lemon juice… . Mix well until  sugar is dissolve . Served with salad bowl, fresh springrolls, crispy springrolls,… as dipping  sauce.

Note : an appropriate way of combining these ingredients will creat a delicious dipping sauce

    Your recipe ( especially photos.) are OUTSTANDING !!!  Thanks to your  great piece of work… I have always want to make ” Chanh mui” ( lemon piclke), but do not know how!  Please help.
